Mandarin Sunset Strain Review

I recently picked up some flower from Trulieve in the strain Mandarin Sunset.

Mandarin Sunset is bred by Ethos Genetics, and it’s a cross between Herijuana and Orange Skunk. It’s an indica with a ”rich, skunky, orange flavor profile.”

I picked up 3.5 grams, or one eighth of an ounce, of the flower for $53. The THC percentage came in at 17.648%, with the entire 3.5 grams containing 645.54 milligrams of THC.

Looking at the lab test results, we can find out some information about the terpenes within this batch of flower. The flower is 1.018% terpenes. Beta Myrcene is the most dominant terpene in this flower, coming in at 0.348%. The following terpenes are also contained within this flower: Caryophyllene, Limonene, Farnesene, Bisabolol, Humulene, Linalool.

The structure of this flower was pretty impressive – it was one huge nug and four smaller ones.

The big nug.

But more important than the size of the nugs is the quality of the flower. It seemed to be cured properly, with the flower not being too dry.

When I smoke this flower, I get a sense of euphoria and uplifted mood. My anxiety melts away, leaving me wanting to socialize and be productive. The smell of this flower is both orange-y and skunky just like the description says.

I’ve been using this flower to unwind at the end of the day and it’s been working out well. I would recommend this strain if you’re dealing with anxiety or trouble sleeping, as it’s helped me with both of those issues.

Have you tried Mandarin Sunset?

Reviewing some hemp products I’ve tried lately (week of January 11, 2021)

1. PuroCannagars Delta-8 THC Cartridges

I remember the moment that I realized, “Whoa, delta-8 THC does get you high,” like it was yesterday. It wasn’t very long ago – maybe a few weeks ago, when I was puffing on one of these PuroCannagars delta-8 cartridges that it hit me – I was getting stoned from the delta-8. I thought this was kind of cool, since delta-8 products can be purchased from hemp brands as they are derived from hemp. No medical card needed. Anyone can have this legal sort of high. I wondered how many other people had realized this, too. Reddit was where I looked, and not surprisingly I found a whole subreddit of people that had found some form of relief or joy or benefits from delta-8 THC.

These cartridges from PuroCannagars have a taste that’s mild and the vapor is smooth, not too harsh when vaping. I could actually vape this all day, it’s so mild and overall good during use. Basically, this was the product that opened my eyes to the fact that delta-8 THC is effective and probably has its place in many people’s lives. And it’s legal, and plant-based.

2. Industrial Hemp Farms CBD Flower in the strain Casino Cookies

This flower is good, but nothing to really write home about. It’s your standard CBD flower; dark green, dense, small-ish nug size. It smokes well, and I really enjoyed it when mixed with CBG flower from

3. CBG Flower

Okay, this is one of my favorite hemp products I’ve found lately. The CBG flower from that I tried – they offer just one strain: “The White” – is delightful. I can’t speak to just how much this flower has helped me; it’s phenomenal how its effects are so chill and perfect for daytime. I don’t know if I would say that CBG flower is stronger, but the “high” if you can call it that is more noticeable than that with CBD. CBG doesn’t really produce a high on its own, but being that CBG is the precursor to other cannabinoids like CBD and THC, I wonder if some of the CBG does get converted to THC during smoking. Because the feeling from smoking CBG flower is different from being high, but it is noticeable. I really like it. Available at – use code ELLIEK for 10% off.

Overall, I’ve really been enjoying finding out more about all the different cannabinoids that hemp and cannabis have to offer. It really goes to show that cannabis and hemp are not just for getting high, but perhaps that their different cannabinoids all have different uses. I plan to keep seeking out the best hemp products to report back on.
