Mandarin Sunset Strain Review

I recently picked up some flower from Trulieve in the strain Mandarin Sunset.

Mandarin Sunset is bred by Ethos Genetics, and it’s a cross between Herijuana and Orange Skunk. It’s an indica with a ”rich, skunky, orange flavor profile.”

I picked up 3.5 grams, or one eighth of an ounce, of the flower for $53. The THC percentage came in at 17.648%, with the entire 3.5 grams containing 645.54 milligrams of THC.

Looking at the lab test results, we can find out some information about the terpenes within this batch of flower. The flower is 1.018% terpenes. Beta Myrcene is the most dominant terpene in this flower, coming in at 0.348%. The following terpenes are also contained within this flower: Caryophyllene, Limonene, Farnesene, Bisabolol, Humulene, Linalool.

The structure of this flower was pretty impressive – it was one huge nug and four smaller ones.

The big nug.

But more important than the size of the nugs is the quality of the flower. It seemed to be cured properly, with the flower not being too dry.

When I smoke this flower, I get a sense of euphoria and uplifted mood. My anxiety melts away, leaving me wanting to socialize and be productive. The smell of this flower is both orange-y and skunky just like the description says.

I’ve been using this flower to unwind at the end of the day and it’s been working out well. I would recommend this strain if you’re dealing with anxiety or trouble sleeping, as it’s helped me with both of those issues.

Chill Steel Bong Review

Me with my Chill

Since I love flower and smooth hits, I was super excited to try out this new piece from Chill.store.

This bong is made to keep ice water cold for smooth, icy hits. It’s vacuum insulated with a stainless steel exterior and the base has a ceramic interior. The neck piece and the base unscrew from each other for easy cleaning and adding ice. You can also mix-and-match the color of your neck piece to change up the look of the base.

This bong keeps ice cold for hours and works just like it says it’s supposed to – it delivers icy cold hits and I barely even cough when I use it.

I love that the Chill bong is made from stainless steel because that means I never have to worry about breaking it. I can have it forever! Although it’s made from a durable material, the weight of the bong with water in it is a little less than my similarly-sized glass bong with water.

Sour Josh Flower from Cannabist

Sour Josh is a 50/50 hybrid strain whose parents are “Sour Diesel Bx2 and Josh D, the encounter between San Fernando Valley OG x Triangle Kush x Hells Angel OG” according to one source. This strain was going for $48 for an eighth (3.5 grams) of Tier 1 flower.

The smell is pungent and floral with some spiciness. The nugs are large and fluffy, a dark green with yellow-orange hairs.

The effects from this strain could be described as mildly sedating, with a positive increase in mood. The buds were sticky when I went to pull them apart for grinding. I’m enjoying this strain’s mellowing effects.

THC percentage: 21.8%

Terpenes: Limonene, Myrcene, Caryophyllene, Linalool

Price: $48/eighth

Cannabist whole flower – Platinum Gorilla, Painter’s OG, and Red Bullz

In my experience, Cannabist brings some excellent flower to the Florida medical marijuana market. Whether you’re looking for a sativa, indica or hybrid, chances are Cannabist will have some great options for you.

I recently tried three different strains: Platinum Gorilla, Painter’s OG, and Red Bullz.

Red Bullz

I reviewed the strain Red Bullz in this post, so feel free to go and check that out.

Platinum Gorilla

Platinum Gorilla is a pure indica, according to Cannabist’s website. I find that this strain has a relaxing effect on the body, locking you to the couch after smoking or vaping it. The mental effect is also relaxing. THC: 16.66%

Painter’s OG

Painter’s OG is some of the best looking flower I’ve bought from a dispensary in a while. The nugs are big, and well-trimmed. This is a cross between OG Kush x Afghan x Bubba’s Gift and it’s an indica-dominant strain. Terpenes in this strain include Linalool, Beta-Caryophyllene, Bisabolol, and Limonene. The effects this strain has on me are mildly uplifting, with reduced anxiety and increased energy. I have been enjoying this strain. THC: 15.6%

My top 3 favorite medical cannabis products recently (besides flower)

1. Dissolvable Powder from Cannabist

The dissolvable powder from Cannabist is a THC drink mix made with cannabis-infused sugar. Whether you’re at home or on the go, drinking your THC is a super subtle way to medicate. The dissolvable powder is sweet, so keep that in mind when mixing it with liquids besides water. I personally prefer water but might play around with mixing it into mocktails this afternoon. Each container comes with 10 packets which each have 10mg of THC. The dissolvable powder comes in several flavors; I think the raspberry is my favorite one.

2. Trulieve & Muse Live Suga

The Live Suga from Trulieve is a cannabis concentrate made with hydrocarbon extraction and fresh flower. It is a grainy, not-sticky concentrate that is pretty easy to work with (except when it falls off of your dabber). My favorite strain that I’ve tried so far is Space Age Cake, an indica.

3. Cannabist CO2 vape cartridges with cannabis-derived terpenes

The CO2 vape cartridges from Cannabist have cannabis-derived terpenes. These cartridges’ vapor is so smooth to inhale, it’s a refreshing departure from vape cartridges of the past in the Florida medical marijuana market. Earlier vape cartridges made with ethanol extraction seemed to be harsher. CO2 seems like one of the best extraction methods for carts; in my experience, the CO2 carts I’ve tried have always been pretty dang good. The cannabis-derived terpenes in these carts make them that much better.
